Chief Todd Watson (update 7/31/19)
CHIEF’S FIRE BREAK

We are very proud of the hardworking fire department
volunteers.  They work and train tirelessly to protect the
residents in the CBFA territory and maintain all the equipment
and facilities.

However, we NEED MORE LIKE THEM to step forward and assist.

Whether you are full-time or part-time, there are things
you could do to assist us at the fire department.
Our fire department volunteers range in age from
30’s to over 90, yet they are still VERY actively involved
according to their ability.  We do have 3 new firefighters
since our last newsletter, so the outreach is working.
I know some will say “I have health problems”, well let’s talk
because maybe there’s something you can do as well.

Come meet the dedicated team and get to know them.
Please call me (Todd Watson, Fire Chief) at 573-345-0788
or leave me a message on the fire department (unmanned)
answering machine at 573-345-4650.

Thanks for your consideration to serve our community.

WE WILL TRAIN YOU.
We have twice monthly trainings which are attended by the
Firefighters and Medical personnel.  These trainings make us
much more effective.

REMINDERS

Please install reflective house numbers
at your residence.  We make numerous medical assist calls
after dark and it makes it difficult to locate those in need of help
without the numbers.
Firefighter training is well attended by both the firefighters
and first responders.  We have been training
on both structure fire types and natural cover fire procedures.
In the Coffman Bend area we study fire size-up on natural cover
fires in case the fire might endanger structures of any type.

Reminder to new residents,  if you rely solely on cell phones for
your telephone service at the lake to PLEASE be sure to check
your service.  Cell phone service in our area is spotty at best and
you don’t want to be caught without a way to call 9-1-1 in an
emergency.  Be aware that using your cell to call 9-1-1 from some
areas of the Bend result in connection to Morgan County instead
of the Camden County Dispatch.  You’ll need to ask them to
transfer you immediately to Camden County and ALWAYS GIVE
YOUR ADDRESS because your cell number isn’t recognized in the
    9-1-1 system.

If you have switched to Magic Jack for your home phone, you must
select 911 service in your Magic Jack account.  There should not
be a charge for this service.  If you want to check your Magic Jack
911 service, call the Camden County Sheriff Department (573-346-
2243) and tell them you want to check your 911 service and follow
their directions as to when to make a 'test' 911 call.

IF you don't have a land line or a cell phone find a place
you can make a cell phone call or find a neighbor that
has a phone and dial 911 -be sure they know you are in
    Camden County.
